You can create a physical thing like a photo, craft, or book, or you can create an experience, an idea, or some improvement in someone's life.
Everyone has the ability to create.
I believe that making a thing or making a difference are both important to being alive, staying sharp, and feeling like you have accomplished something worthwhile with your time.
You can spend as little or as much time volunteering as you like, and I think you find it well worth your energy.
Create some new space for the next phase of your life.
Is your giant collection of antique thingys consuming too much time and space in your life?
Maybe you are tired of boxes of old sports equipment filling shelves in your garage, or clothes that will never fit or be in style again, and books you read once but don't need anymore?
All these things take time and energy to maintain, store, dust, acquire, admire, and keep.
If you feel the need for changes, check out this book called SHED Your Stuff, Change Your Life . One cool thing it says is to find a theme for the phase of your life that you are entering now. Something you want to focus on. My theme is Freedom. The thing about a theme is it is a standard you can use to judge whether things you choose to do will help you or hinder you. Will it help you in your freedom to buy one more antique thingy or will it get in the way.She goes into much better detail and examples in her book, and I am still working on it.
Another book that talks about this stuff collecting from a money life point of view is Your Money or Your Life. It helps you inventory and get a real picture of how much this stuff is costing you not only to buy it in the first place, but also to store it, maintain it and do stuff with it.
Small creations are special too. Little things we do every day for others and for ourselves add up to a nice environment for us all.
I took this from the top deck of an open tour bus on a trip to London a few years ago. I love the blue skies, the lion, the Big Ben tower and the cabs. I just really like London.

There are probably more things I like to do, but I haven't gotten around to making all the links and book pictures for them all.
The bottom line is have some fun.
